“Giving without asking.”

OUR BIRTH:

It was May 18 of 2004 when I flew to Accra, Ghana, in Africa to start my sightseeing vacation of Africa that was to last for only 3 weeks. It was unimaginable what poverty I saw there.

I journeyed through a few different countries in Africa all by train, which I will not really recommend to anyone to take, unless the trip is less than 3 hours.

From Accra, where I spent 2 nights, I traveled south trying to get to Johannesburg, South Africa, hoping to find my way to Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Cape Town, where thereafter, I will return to Vancouver, BC, in Canada.

I made it to Lagos, Nigeria, but did not like where I was, so I left in a bit of a hurry after 1 night’s stay there. Unbelievable poverty all over the place, everywhere, was all there was. Nigeria was scary too.

I proceeded to Yaounde, Cameroon, for 2 nights, and it was much of the same. Although it was a little bit better than Accra or Lagos, there was still way too much poverty there.

All the way to Johannesburg, I saw nothing, but extreme poverty. By this time, I was running out of time, and I have to skip visiting Durban and Port Elizabeth. I decided to go directly to Cape Town to rest for a while, and fly back to my home, which I did not do. I went back to Luanda, Angola, instead.

I have never seen so much poverty in my whole life; people without having anything to eat, no bed to sleep, no clean water to drink, no toilet, cardboard boxes and scrap wood patched together to call home, no job opportunity, and no hope whatsoever.

In the country-side, in small villages, their homes are made out of mud (mud hut) with raw dirt as their floor.

Everywhere was such a pitiful sight. Never have I seen such extreme poverty where millions of adults and children die from malnutrition and disease, every single year. Their lives are more than torture.

HIV (AIDS), malaria, dysentery, cholera, Ebola, and other numerous diseases kill millions of Africans each year, including starvation. Most vulnerable are children.

Every single day that they wake up, they know that they have absolutely nothing, not even a flicker of hope for the day, no salvation. This is wholesale desperation, nothing more.

I cannot imagine what it is like in Kenya, Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia, and all the other regions that I did not see while I was in Africa.

At Luanda in Angola, Sister Angela of Puerto Rico and Sister Gilda of New Zealand, both doing missionary work under the care of some charity organizations of their respective homeland, run a clinic from an abandoned small hospital and an orphanage, and they are surrounded by shanties for blocks away.

These sisters are doing such great jobs, but they complain that with only the two of them, they are simply way too overworked and understaffed. They need more people to help them. They find themselves working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, with hardly any rest at all. They insisted that I stay and help out.

They also complain that there is never enough food for all their over 100 orphans to feed, no regular doctors and nurses to look after the sick. What little money they get from their charities is too little to even buy medicine or sufficient food.

They are living a very sad life because they cannot do more, even if they try. Each day, some die in their community from lack of food, clean water, or disease. Each day, they turn their backs away from taking anymore orphans. They turn their backs to help the sick. They can only do so much with what they only have.

When a child reaches 8 years of age, that child has to leave the orphanage and start to survive on his/her own. They tell me that most of those children do not live to celebrate their 15-year birthday.

Although I stayed with the sisters for 3 nights, I went back to them again, and stayed with them for just about 3 months.

I had to go back to them. I wanted to help out, whatever I possibly can. I know too well that those 2 sisters needed my help.

I went back to Canada on September 8 of 2004. I cannot make a difference in the lives of the people in Luanda. There was simply a great lack there. I felt so desperate and useless.

But this time, I made up my mind to do something. I will start a charitable foundation to help the very poor people of this world, not just Africa.

This will be an enormous undertaking, but I know I have to do something. I have to do something that will make a dent in every impoverished lives and communities I help. I want to release poverty on the face of this earth. That is going to be my goal, even if it takes 100 years to get it done.

The World Poverty Relief Foundation (WPRF) was born, founded and chartered in the beautiful island nation of Antigua, in the Caribbean, on August 28, 2005, as a 100% charitable organization.

On September of 2005, the administration of our operation was moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and all responsibilities were transferred to some outstanding citizens of the African community of Toronto. Most of Toronto’s Directors are African-Canadians to enable them to serve the impoverished people of Africa.

The STATEMENT OF PURPOSE of the World Poverty Relief Foundation:

1). To provide employable skills through vocational training to all extremely poor adults, age 18 and above, with job placement after training, transportation allowance, free accommodation, meals, clothing, and to include family support while at school up until they receive their first paycheck from their employer. This is a permanent solution to poverty.

2). To provide 100% financial assistance through a forgivable interest-free loan for any feasible business proposal from an impoverished individual or couple. The loan is repayable at 15% of monthly profits only when such profit exceeds US$500. No payment is required if the business did not achieve US$500 in profits for the month.  Should the business not thrive in order to pay back the monthly due on the loan after 1 year, the loan is forgiven. (In most cases, relocation is essential.)

3). To provide free medical services to all impoverished communities, including free treatment, medication, and nurses’ care. We are trying to get an affiliation with “Doctors Without Borders” that is an organization of volunteer doctors serving the extremely poor of the world.

4). To provide proper shelter and meals to any impoverished person who is homeless, forced into theft or the sex trade, or victim of disaster. Thereafter, provide them training so they can live with dignity.

5). To establish orphanages, and aggressively locate adoptive foster parents for all orphans, locally and abroad.

6). To install clean water sources utilizing deep or shallow artesian wells, including the provision of sanitary toilets with showers scattered strategically throughout an impoverished community.

7). To establish community cooperatives to raise edible crops and livestock for community consumption and sale, monitored by 2 people in charge. In dry areas, deep well irrigation system will be improvised, an expensive proposition.

All of these programs require tremendous amount of resources and money, and we are doing our utmost best to raise over $20,000,000 (Twenty Million American Dollars) in 12 months. With your help, we can do it. I am sure of it.

WILL YOU PLAY A GAME WITH US and MAKE Some MONEY?

This is a money-making game for you. It’s simple. It’s fun. It’s fairly exciting.

I invite you to join my very own CHARITY GAME that is totally OPTIONAL on your part. This is purely to help me out with my fund-raising campaign. Will you help? Please?

As a charity, this game is totally legal. You are donating your money to our charity, WPRF, and you become one of our volunteers helping us with our fund-raising efforts.

Can you spare $20.00? Can you? Will you? Please?

It’s like this: Donate your $20.00 to WPRF. If everything goes well, you will receive no less $10,000 in just a few months as our way of saying “thank you.” (You can make a whole lot more.)

If things don’t go so well, at least you have done a good gesture to support WPRF. Treat it like you bought me a decent dinner. Is this OK with you?

You have a better than 99% chance of making over $1,000 by playing this game.

The game is really very simple. Do this just for fun. OK?
